Useful Expressions

When you're discussing topics they are some expressions you can use to sound more natural in English, for example to ask somebody's opinion "Helen, what do you think about this?", to state your opinion "The way I see it..." or to interrupt if the other speakers don't let you talk "Can I add something here?".

Besides, it's also necesary to agree or disagree with others in a conversation. So, you can use "I'm with you on this" to agree, or "I'm not sure about that" to disagree.

These are only some examples, but there are many others you can use.

Here you have a document with a list of useful expressions. I recommend you print it and use it when discussig topics. It's good practice for the exam!

Computer and internet texts

On the same topic of computers and internet, we're going to have a look now at a reading comprehension text, which also includes a video, and some comprehension questions for you to practise.

Another very interesting text is this one on computer addiction, something very common nowadays. It also goes with activities.

We'll discuss this last text in class next day, so make sure you read it.

See you soon!

Luck

We talked in class about believing or not in luck, and if we think some people are born lucky or not. If you didn't have time in class to express your opinion or if you have more to say on this subject, write a comment! We can continue the class debate in here.

Do you want to know my opinion?

I believe luck exists. I think it's one more thing we have in life. However, I strongly believe that one person can change his/her luck if they try hard enough. One of my favourite quotations about luck is "Luck meets a prepared mind".

Do you know more quotations on luck?
